What Couples Should Know Before Planning a Wine Country Wedding
From a Local Wine Country Planner
Planning a wedding in Oregon Wine Country is undeniably beautiful—but it’s also highly specific. Vineyards are working agricultural environments, not traditional event venues, and understanding how they operate is key to creating a celebration that feels effortless rather than reactive.
As planners who work in wine country daily, here are the realities we guide our couples through early in the process—so there are no surprises later.
Noise Ordinances: Agricultural vs. State Rules
Some wine country venues fall under agricultural (AG) zoning, which often means music must end by 9:00 PM. This differs from standard state or city ordinances, which may allow sound until 10:00 PM.
The takeaway: your venue’s zoning—not the county’s general rule—dictates the timeline. This impacts ceremony start times, non-amplified music vs. band vs. DJ decisions, and whether a late-night transition is needed.
Summer Heat Is Real (Especially in July)
July in wine country is hot—often hotter than couples expect, especially for those traveling in from out of the area. Many vineyards are wide open spaces with limited natural shade, particularly during ceremonies.
We plan accordingly: later ceremony times, hydration stations, parasols, shaded lounge areas, and thoughtful guest communication go a long way toward comfort.
Wind: A Predictable Pattern (If You Know It)
Wine country winds are no joke—and they tend to follow a pattern.
Winds typically pick up around 4:00 PM, which happens to be a popular ceremony start time
They often die down around 6:00 PM, just in time for outdoor dining
Knowing this allows us to adjust ceremony placement, floral mechanics, paper goods, hair styling, and even microphone choices to avoid mid-ceremony chaos.
Rain Plans: Often a Tent Requirement
Unless a venue offers a true indoor rain plan, most vineyards require a tent if rain is in the forecast. This isn’t pessimism—it’s preparedness.
Tents affect layout, rentals, lighting, and budget, which is why we address rain contingencies early rather than scrambling the week of the wedding.
Harvest Season: Why Many Vineyards Pause Weddings
Most vineyards cease hosting weddings from September through early October, and for good reason. Harvest is loud, messy, and an all-hands-on-deck operation.
It’s also when fruit flies and gnats become more noticeable—they love wine just as much as guests do. (Pro tip: cover wine glasses during harvest-adjacent events.)
If a vineyard does allow weddings during this window, expectations and logistics need to be crystal clear.
Fire Season & Smoke Contingency Planning
Fire season is unpredictable, but it’s something we’re always planning for.
We routinely:
Monitor conditions
Coordinate water tenders (often on-site as a precaution)
Develop Plan D: smoke, including guest communication and timeline flexibility
You may never need it—but having a plan matters.
Lodging Books Quickly—This Comes First
Wine country lodging is limited and books fast, especially during peak season. As soon as a date is selected, lodging jumps to the top of the priority list.
We guide couples on room blocks, buyouts, and nearby options to ensure guests aren’t left scrambling.
Local Vendors vs. Travel Fees
We’re fortunate to have incredible local vendors and always advocate for keeping business local when possible.
That said, vendors traveling in from outside the area—including Portland-based teams and rental companies—often charge travel fees. This isn’t unusual, but it’s something couples should budget for early.
Transportation: Uber & Lyft Are Not Reliable
Rideshare services are unreliable in wine country—think winding roads, limited cell service, and celebratory drinking.
For guest safety (and venue requirements), professionally booked transportation is strongly preferred and often mandatory. It’s one of the most important logistics decisions you’ll make.
Late-Night After-Parties: Where to Go
One of the most common requests we receive is for late-night after-party locations once the venue’s noise cutoff hits.
A few local favorites and emerging options include:
LucidWild – the newest venue offering late-night parties, even for non-wedding clients
First Street Public House (Newberg)
Upcoming music venue by Wolves & People
Tried-and-true spots: Social Goods, Barley & Vine Tavern, Old Town Bar & Grill
And the locals’ favorite dive bar: Lumpy’s Tavern in Dundee, often with live music or karaoke
Knowing where to send guests—and how to get them there—makes all the difference.
Final Thoughts
None of these realities are drawbacks—they’re simply part of planning within a living, working landscape.
With local knowledge and proactive planning, wine country weddings feel seamless, grounded, and deeply connected to place. That’s where the magic really lives.

A Refined Summer Garden Wedding at Château de Michellia in Oregon
A Lush, Elegant Celebration of Love and Tradition
June 15, 2024, unfolded as a day of gentle unpredictability and remarkable harmony. Set against the backdrop of Château de Michellia — a newly unveiled French château–inspired venue in Oregon’s Willamette Valley — Mariya and Stan’s wedding was a study in refined opulence and cultural depth. Nestled across ten acres of manicured gardens, the estate offered a timeless setting for a celebration rooted in tradition, beauty, and thoughtful intention.
A Romantic Beginning Inside the Château
The day began within the château itself, where Victorian-era European architecture created a distinctly feminine backdrop for getting-ready moments. Soft natural light poured through tall windows, illuminating delicate details and lending the morning an editorial ease that felt both intimate and quietly grand.
Mariya and Stan shared their first look in the all-white grand foyer — a space defined by soaring ceilings and classical symmetry. Its restraint allowed the emotion of the moment to take center stage: elegant, personal, and deeply felt.
Portraits in Light and Setting
Throughout the day, moments of portraiture unfolded with an ease that felt both natural and quietly composed. From the soft, anticipatory energy of the morning preparations to the warm glow of late afternoon, each frame captured a different dimension of Mariya and Stan’s celebration.
Inside the château, diffused window light and tonal interiors created imagery that feels timeless and refined. Getting-ready moments carried a sense of intimacy — layered with anticipation, texture, and thoughtful detail.
Later, as the skies began to clear, the gardens offered a luminous backdrop. Gentle light settled across the estate, lending warmth and dimension without overpowering the landscape. The resulting portraits feel polished yet personal — honoring tradition while remaining unmistakably contemporary.
A Ceremony Marked by Serendipity
As guests arrived, passing showers drifted across the gardens, the scent of fresh rain mingling with lush florals in layered ivory, blush, and the faintest wash of mauve. Towering arrangements framed the ceremony lawn, setting a tone of understated grandeur.
Just as Mariya stepped into view, the rain lifted, replaced by warm afternoon light that seemed to settle gently over the estate. Beneath an abundant floral arch, the couple exchanged vows rich with meaning and heritage — a ceremony expansive in scale yet intimate in spirit.
An Artful Cocktail Hour
Cocktail hour unfolded as a series of beautifully layered experiences. A beloved tradition within the Slavic community, the espresso cart quickly became a natural gathering place, serving rich coffee drinks that encouraged guests to linger and connect.
Nearby, an expansive charcuterie display — set within the estate’s rose garden — felt almost painterly in its composition. Artisanal cheeses, cured meats, seasonal fruits, nuts, and freshly baked breads were arranged with a sculptural eye, inviting guests to graze at leisure.
A Reception Designed with Intention
Designing the reception on the château’s grand lawn required both vision and precision, as the space needed to accommodate the ceremony for a sizable guest count while transitioning seamlessly into dinner. The lower tier of the lawn ultimately hosted the reception, creating natural dimension while preserving the estate’s sweeping views.
A thoughtful mix of long tables and classic rounds balanced communal energy with opportunities for quiet conversation. Crisp white linens set the foundation for a layered tablescape of lush white florals accented with hints of blush and light mauve, arranged in richly textured cement vessels that grounded the otherwise airy palette.
Place settings reflected quiet sophistication: scalloped layered dinner plates with a subtle monochromatic pattern, modern gold flatware, white hemstitch napkins, refined glassware, and ribbed bud vases that introduced gentle dimension. Neutral rattan Louis dining chairs warmed the composition, offering an organic counterpoint to the tonal design.
When the sun made its welcomed late arrival, café umbrellas — strategically woven into the floor plan — provided guests with shaded respite while preserving the visual rhythm of the space.
At the front of the reception, a ribbed white sweetheart table was draped in a grand floral installation. Positioned so the couple could overlook their guests, it was beautifully framed by the ceremony arch and a floral-lined staircase, allowing earlier design elements to carry forward with seamless cohesion.
Nearby, a self-serve nonalcoholic station styled on a charming glass-and-metal shelf invited guests to help themselves to sparkling water, sparkling cider, and thoughtfully selected NA offerings — an approachable detail that complemented the relaxed elegance of the afternoon.
A Dessert Display That Stopped the Afternoon
The dessert presentation was a true jaw-dropper. Lavish in scale and rich with heritage, the spread featured traditional Ukrainian sweets alongside refined pastries—honey-soaked medovik, delicate fruit tarts, and airy meringues—layered into a display that felt abundant yet impeccably styled.
Anchoring the table was a five-tier wedding cake inspired by Ukrainian embroidery, its intricate detailing a sophisticated nod to the couple’s roots and a striking blend of tradition and modern elegance.
A Grand Daylight Farewell
Rather than transitioning into evening, the celebration concluded in the late afternoon with a grand entrance through the château’s front doors. Bathed in natural light, the farewell felt intentional and celebratory — joyful without excess, elegant without spectacle.
A Celebration Defined by Elegance and Heritage
Mariya and Stan’s wedding was an experience shaped by cultural reverence, thoughtful design, and an unwavering clarity of vision. From the château’s romantic interiors to the layered culinary moments and garden reception, every detail reflected a love story rooted in tradition and elevated by refined taste.
For couples envisioning a luxury wedding in Oregon’s wine country, this celebration is a reminder that timeless design does not require convention — only intention.
If you’re dreaming of a high-touch, bespoke wedding experience in the Willamette Valley or beyond, we would be honored to create something truly distinctive together.

An immersive wine country wedding weekend designed by a luxury Oregon wedding planner specializing in multi-day celebrations and elevated guest experiences.
Some wedding weekends feel less like an event and more like a beautifully choreographed retreat—where every gathering builds on the last and guests leave feeling truly connected. As a wine country luxury wedding planner specializing in weekend event planning and immersive guest experiences, this is exactly the type of celebration we love to design. Learn more about our full-service wedding planning in Oregon wine country and how we approach multi-day celebrations. George and Mel’s four-day destination celebration at Del Mar Villa in Dundee, Oregon was exactly that: intentional, joy-filled, and layered with distinctive details that reflected who they are and the community they cherish.
From Whitworth to Wine Country
George and Mel met at Whitworth University, a beginning rooted in shared values, friendships, and a deep sense of togetherness. Now living in Seattle, they envisioned their wedding not as a single day, but as a destination weekend—an excuse to bring their favorite people together in Oregon wine country and savor unhurried time under the summer sun.
Del Mar Villa offered the perfect canvas: expansive lawns, a European-inspired estate feel, and the flexibility to host an entire weekend of celebrations in one unforgettable setting. Located in the heart of Oregon wine country, it is ideal for couples envisioning a destination-style wedding weekend without leaving the Pacific Northwest. Explore more of our expertise and venues we love.
Thursday: A Warm Welcome
The festivities began on Thursday evening with a relaxed backyard-style BBQ for friends and family. It set the tone immediately—easy, welcoming, and full of laughter. Guests arrived, glasses in hand, settling into the rhythm of the weekend ahead.
Friday: Movement, Meaning, and Magic
Friday morning kicked off with one of the most joyful moments of the weekend: Jazzercise on the tennis courts, led by the groom’s mom—an actual Jazzercise instructor. Moments like these are a hallmark of our weekend wedding planning approach, where guest experience is thoughtfully layered into every day.
Adding an extra layer of personality, the guys showed up in custom basketball jerseys—a nod to the groom’s deep love of the game and his time playing college basketball (yes, a true hall-of-famer). Each jersey featured a graphic of Del Mar Villa on the front alongside the couple’s monogram, blending playful nostalgia with thoughtful design. In perhaps the sweetest detail of all, a matching jersey was made for his baby niece.
Guests of all ages joined in, laughing, stretching, and dancing beneath the crisp blue Oregon sky. It was personal, playful, and entirely unforgettable.
Midday brought the rehearsal, grounding everyone ahead of the main event, before the evening unfolded in layers.
The rehearsal dinner embraced a classic Italian theme—warm, communal, and deeply satisfying—setting the stage for the night ahead. From there, guests flowed seamlessly into a welcome party open to all, complete with a surprise illusionist who wandered through the crowd, leaving jaws dropped and conversations buzzing late into the night.
Saturday: The Wedding Day
Saturday arrived with that unmistakable energy—equal parts anticipation and calm. Before the pace of the day picked up, George and Mel were intentional about carving out a quiet moment just for themselves, sharing a morning coffee date together. It was a simple pause, but a deeply meaningful one—an intentional choice to ground the day in connection before the celebration unfolded.
That devotion to protecting their time together felt like a true reflection of their partnership, and it was incredibly special to witness how important it was for them to begin the wedding day side by side, fully present with one another.
The Ceremony
The ceremony took place on the back lawn, framed by rolling greens and soft summer light. Guests arrived by shuttle and entered through the grand foyer, where they were greeted with passed bubbles beside a statement floral installation cascading down the grand staircase and a thoughtfully styled welcome table.
From there, guests made their way to the back lawn, where a custom wood welcome sign—lovingly made by the groom’s father—offered a meaningful, handcrafted moment before they were seated on the grand lawn for the ceremony.
Florals framed the entrance to the aisle, drawing the eye toward a grounded half-moon arch filled with lush green and white florals. Pottery vessels and woven baskets added organic texture, while light wood rattan chairs completed the refined yet relaxed aesthetic. The result was timeless, natural, and quietly stunning.
Cocktail Hour
Cocktail hour unfolded on the great lawn, where guests mingled among thoughtfully curated details, including a wedding photo table honoring loved ones through family wedding photographs—a beautiful and tender moment woven into the celebration. A custom seating display guided guests with ease, while exquisite linens from BBJ La Tavola elevated every surface.
The Reception
As the sun dipped, guests transitioned into the grand Sperry tent—never before used on the Del Mar Villa property. A lush floral installation framed the entrance, creating a breathtaking moment of arrival.
Inside, oak wood and white checkerboard dance flooring anchored the space as a live band launched the evening, keeping the dance floor packed from the very first note.
The tabletop design carried the weekend’s palette of creams, soft whites, layered greens, and subtle accents of gold. The couple collaborated with their Seattle-based stationer and dear friend, Fresh Squeezed Design, to develop beautiful custom stationery, paper goods, and signage that felt timeless yet personal.
Adding an especially meaningful detail, the bride hand-crafted custom green linen table numbers—an element that became a recurring (and much-loved) topic throughout the planning process. While sourcing linens, we landed on sage green striped napkins that leaned into the verdant palette while still evoking a hint of Tuscan charm. With the help of our rental partners, these linens were sourced to perfectly complement the tablescape and elevate the overall reception design. To keep the mood intentionally vibe‑y and conversation focused, we layered in small gold table lamps—adding a warm glow that stayed low on the table and encouraged connection as guests settled in.
George and Mel made a grand re-entrance—complete with an outfit change—that flowed directly into a champagne tower moment. The groom popped a bottle of Veuve Clicquot with so much excitement that champagne sprayed joyfully across the dance floor before the two of them topped off the tower together, laughter and cheers echoing all around.
Just outside the tent, a semi-circle bar was tucked beneath a striking focal-point tree, serving custom signature cocktails and offering guests a moment to step out and enjoy the breathtaking sunset over the Dundee Hills.
Dinner was served family-style, featuring incredible Italian cuisine by local favorite Gumba. Passed platters, generous portions, and exceptional flavors made the meal feel both elevated and deeply communal.
First dances and toasts followed—so emotional, in fact, that even I found myself giving my very first toast in 19 years of planning weddings. There wasn’t a dry eye in the tent.
Dessert brought yet another heartfelt layer: the cutting cake and cupcakes were lovingly made by a close friend of the couple, who arrived with her newborn in tow—an extraordinary labor of love.
Late Night: Where the Party Really Began
Just when guests thought the night might wind down, espresso martinis appeared and the celebration shifted into the ballroom for late-night festivities.
Green tea shots flowed. A custom chip bar paid homage to the groom’s love of spicy chips. Late-night pizza—delivered by Domino’s—arrived in custom-designed pizza boxes created just for the occasion (because George and Mel really love pizza).
The couple made one final grand re-entrance, this time armed with sequin dance energy and LED light sticks. The dance floor stayed packed well into the wee hours, pulsing with joy and pure celebration.
Sunday: One Last Gathering
Sunday morning wrapped the weekend beautifully with brunch for the house guests, followed by a wine-country off-site pool party for the couple’s inner circle—one last chance to soak up the sunshine before heading home.

Julia & Ryan’s Romantic Black-Tie Garden Wedding at Waverley Country Club
Waverley Country Club was the perfect setting for Julia and Ryan’s timeless black-tie garden wedding. Nestled along the river, their day unfolded with a balance of romance, southern charm, and playful details that felt deeply personal.
A Ceremony Overlooking the River
Guests were welcomed with parasols and hand fans before making their way to a garden chair-lined aisle, where florals framed the path in lush shades of hydrangeas, garden roses, cosmos, and larkspur. At the end of the aisle, Julia and Ryan exchanged vows atop a custom round platform, surrounded by a floral nest and shaded by market umbrellas. The river view created an unforgettable backdrop for their promises.
A Celebration of Style & Story
Every detail was intentional, starting with the custom invitation suite — a nod to the classic charm of the Masters golf tournament, the suite incorporated a refined palette of green and butter yellow, hand-drawn illustrations, and a green-and-white envelope liner that set the tone for the celebration.
Fashion carried that spirit forward. The wedding party was beautifully classic — bridesmaids in butter yellow silk gowns, including the iconic “Andy” dress from How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days. Guests leaned into the festive black-tie garden theme with brightly colored gowns, lively patterns, and undeniable southern charm, making the celebration feel vibrant and stylish.
Thoughtful Guest Experiences
At cocktail hour, guests discovered a custom seating chart wall that doubled as an interactive experience. Mounted envelopes held each guest’s table number, along with a charm pull — a playful nod to Ryan’s New Orleans roots and the tradition of the cake pull. The couple continued this theme at the reception, where each table number corresponded to a charm, with the meaning of the charm elegantly printed on the back.
Custom touches extended everywhere: a fabric-draped bar menu, personalized koozies and matchbooks featuring their golden retriever Bailey, and a floral-framed Sperry tent entrance. A lounge vignette under café lights, just steps off of the dance floor, created a chic space for conversation and late-night dancing. Bailey even joined the celebration in his tuxedo bow tie, stealing hearts during portraits.
Heartfelt Moments & Late-Night Magic
The reception unfolded with timeless traditions and personal surprises. Julia shared a first dance with her grandfather, while her grandparents celebrated their 68th wedding anniversary on the same night. In one of the most touching moments of the evening, Julia and her cousins surprised the couple by interrupting their anniversary dance, each handing Julia’s grandmother a single ivory rose.
Guests enjoyed a champagne tower, a dessert bar featuring Russian and American sweets, and late-night sliders paired with glass bottles of Coke — disco balls gleaming nearby. Under the Sperry tent, friends and family filled the dance floor, creating a night both elegant and joyfully unforgettable.
A Timeless, Personal Celebration
Hints of butter yellow, creamy ivory, and light olive carried throughout the design, weaving a thread of understated elegance from ceremony to reception. From the florals to the fashion, from Bailey’s bow tie to the anniversary roses, Julia and Ryan’s Waverley Country Club wedding was a celebration that honored family legacy, personal history, and the timeless joy of gathering together in style.

How to Plan a Last-Minute 2025 Wedding: Venues, Budgets & Timeline Tips
If you’re newly engaged and dreaming of a 2025 wedding but worried you’ve missed your chance, take a deep breath—you still have options. Many stunning venues in the Pacific Northwest still have availability, particularly in August, late October, and early winter—which just so happens to be one of the most romantic (and cost-effective) times of year to say "I do."
We get it—life is expensive, and life feels unsteady right now. That doesn’t mean you have to wait until 2026 to get married. Many couples are taking their time to thoughtfully consider their options and weigh all considerations right now.
That said, do not fret. There are still plenty of venues with an abundance of open dates—even summer dates. It’s a bit of a push to bring it all together, but it can be done. Later dates are more ideal to allow for a longer planning time frame, with fall and early winter dates being ideal for us planners.
1. Choose a Venue with Open Dates (Yes, There Are Plenty!)
While prime summer Saturdays may be booked, late summer, fall, and early winter offer incredible opportunities—often with more flexibility and lower price tags. August still has availability in many wine country venues, while late October brings crisp air, golden leaves, and the magic of autumn. If you’re open to a winter wedding, early 2026 dates come with a cozy, intimate atmosphere and significant savings on venue fees.
2. Opt for a More Intimate Guest List
A smaller wedding allows for more personalized touches, a refined dining experience, and flexibility in securing vendors. Microweddings and intimate celebrations are a beautiful way to create a high-end experience without the extended timeline of a 200-person event—or the extended budget. By focusing on what truly matters, couples can have a distinctive, luxurious wedding with a more intentional investment.
3. Prioritize Key Vendors First
When working with a condensed timeline, securing an experienced planner is the first step—we streamline the entire process, leveraging our connections to find available vendors and ensuring every detail aligns seamlessly. From there, photographers, caterers, florists, and entertainment should be booked swiftly, focusing on those who can accommodate shorter lead times.
4. Consider a Weekday or Off-Peak Date
Flexibility with your date can open up premium venues and sought-after vendors. A Friday or Sunday wedding often offers more availability, while a weekday soirée can provide a truly intimate, relaxed experience—especially in scenic locations like Oregon’s wine country, the Columbia River Gorge, Central Oregon, or Hawaii.
Thursday microwedding overlooking the Columbia River Gorge
5. Embrace the Season
Each season in the Pacific Northwest offers its own kind of magic. Late summer is golden and sun-drenched, fall is rich and moody, and winter weddings are filled with candlelight, warm textiles, and a cozy, sophisticated atmosphere. Plus, winter weddings often come with lower price points for venues and vendors, allowing you to maximize your budget.
6. Say Yes to a Streamlined Planning Process
A last-minute wedding doesn’t have to feel rushed—it just requires a focused, strategic approach. Working with a planner means eliminating the overwhelm while still achieving an elegant, distinctive celebration. We handle the logistics, secure trusted vendors, and ensure everything comes together beautifully, even on a shorter timeline.

A Candlelit Winter Wedding at Maysara Winery: Elegance Meets Romance
Nestled in the heart of Oregon Wine Country, Maysara Winery set the stage for an unforgettable winter wedding, blending moody elegance with breathtaking romance. This exclusive setup and use of the winery was for one of the daughters of the winery owners—a rare and extraordinary opportunity. Unlike typical weddings at Maysara, this was a one-of-a-kind event, offering us full creative freedom to bring their vision to life in a way that won't be replicated. With draped ceilings, cascading florals, and hundreds of flickering candles, this celebration was a true testament to love and refined luxury.
We absolutely adore this family, who values friendship, family, and community above all else. They are a true beacon of our community, giving back at every opportunity. Planning Naseem and Alex’s wedding—wonderful friends—was a true honor, and we were so grateful to be a part of such a meaningful celebration.
A Ceremony Cloaked in Soft Romance
The transformation of Maysara’s upstairs loft into a dreamlike ceremony space was nothing short of magical. Floor-to-ceiling draping created an ethereal softness, setting the tone for an intimate and breathtaking exchange of vows. A stunning 70-foot candle-lined aisle led the way to asymmetrical, lush floral columns framing the altar. Overhead, crystal chandeliers floated down the aisle, casting a warm glow over the couple as they said, “I do.”
A Chic & Moody Cocktail Hour
Guests were transported into a moody yet inviting cocktail hour on the winery’s crush pad, where barrel walls were illuminated from within, adding a touch of warmth to the cool winter evening. Black velvet lounge furniture created a chic retreat, perfectly complementing the black custom-built bar—crafted by the groom himself. Adding a deeply personal touch, the groom also designed custom stone signage, a nod to the way their love story began: when he first came to install the bride’s kitchen countertops, conveniently “forgot” his tools, and stayed for dinner. The rest, as they say, is history.
An Enchanting Reception Dripping in Candlelight & Florals
With 230 guests seated beneath a canopy of suspended florals, the reception exuded refined grandeur. Hundreds of candles flickered on elegantly set tables featuring black dinner plates, cream linens, gold flatware, and stone table numbers. After finding their seats on elegant black acrylic seating charts, guests found their way to their seats where they were greeted with an amuse bouche Oregon Mushroom Terrine. The couple’s sweetheart table overflowed with lush, cascading blooms, while a candle and floral-lined grand staircase made for a showstopping entrance.
A decadent five-tier cake adorned with handcrafted sugar flowers stood as both an artistic masterpiece and a delicious indulgence, accompanied by a full spread of delicate Ukrainian desserts.
Black-Tie Sophistication & Thoughtful Details
Every detail reflected an effortlessly chic aesthetic, from the wedding party’s black attire—sleek black tuxedos and elegant black bridesmaid dresses—to the couple’s own fashion choices. The bride stunned in two gowns: a voluminous Stella York ballgown for the ceremony and a shimmering Essence of Australia party dress to dance the night away. A hand-painted stationery suite captured personal touches, featuring illustrations of the winery, the bride’s beloved horses, and even a custom wine label created in their honor.
An Unforgettable Winter Celebration
With snow looming in the forecast, there was a moment of uncertainty about whether the wedding would unfold as planned—but the skies held out, and the day went off flawlessly. Against the rich backdrop of Oregon Wine Country, this winter wedding at Maysara Winery was the epitome of unexpected elegance, where romance met refinement in the most breathtaking way.
For those dreaming of a luxurious and distinctive Oregon Wine Country wedding, our expert planning ensures every detail is flawlessly executed. Let’s create something unforgettable together.

The wedding featured lush floral designs that perfectly complemented the villa’s opulent setting, elevating every space with romantic blooms.
Custom Hand-Painted Stationery & Artistic Touches One of the most breathtaking elements of the wedding was the custom hand-painted watercolor stationery, featuring a liner painting of Del Mar Villa. Every detail was thoughtfully designed, including dog portraits subtly woven into the invitation suite, a nod to the couple’s beloved pets. A stunning, hand-painted welcome sign banner greeted guests upon arrival, setting the tone for the elegant celebration.
As guests arrived, a photographer was stationed to capture their portraits, creating a personal and memorable entrance experience. Unbeknownst to them, a live painter was secretly using those arrival portraits as inspiration, creating stunning hand-painted favors for guests to take home later in the evening—an exquisite and deeply personal keepsake of the celebration.
The Ceremony: A Scenic Exchange of Vows Couples can say “I do” on the back patio, with the villa’s striking architecture serving as an elegant backdrop. As the bride made her long walk to the ceremony with her father, a trumpet and pianist played a breathtaking rendition of Clair de Lune. Vintage-inspired décor, delicate floral arrangements in shades of lilac, and a fabric welcome sign set a regal and inviting tone.
The Reception: A Celebration Under the Stars The villa’s courtyard offers a seamless indoor-outdoor experience, ideal for elegant dining and lively celebrations. Though originally planned for the courtyard, the ballroom served as a refined Plan B when weather required an indoor option. Guests enjoyed a Pacific Northwest-inspired meal, complete with local flavors that celebrated the region’s bounty. Elegant tablescapes featured lilac-hued linens, delicate china, and bow-detailed menus that added a whimsical yet sophisticated touch. Guests were touched by thoughtful details, including custom monogrammed logos and wax-sealed menus.
Dessert was a highlight of the evening, with the couple’s favorite cake brought up from Sweet Life Patisserie in Eugene, Oregon, ensuring a sentimental and sweet moment. Later in the night, guests indulged in a late-night treat from the Mobile Scoop Ice Cream Cart, delighting in handcrafted flavors under the stars.

Classy Elopement Reception at Stillwater in McMinnville, Oregon
Extra! Extra! WE Eloped!
Some wedding moments are unforgettable, and for one incredible couple, their wedding reception was just that—a delightful, unexpected twist that had guests buzzing with excitement.
Long before their guests arrived at Stillwater Venue in McMinnville, Oregon, this couple had already exchanged vows in an intimate elopement in the stunning landscape of Joshua Tree, one of the most picturesque and sought-after elopement destinations. With their little girl by their side, they celebrated their love in a way that felt deeply personal and true to them. But they weren’t done celebrating just yet!
When guests arrived at what they thought was a wedding ceremony, they were handed a custom wedding newspaper with a bold headline: Extra! Extra! We Eloped! Some guests caught on immediately, while others took a moment for the surprise to settle in. The initial shock quickly turned into pure joy as the realization set in—this was going to be an unforgettable celebration of love and adventure!
With the secret revealed, the newlyweds made their grand entrance as husband and wife, ready to toast and mingle during a lively cocktail hour featuring signature wedding cocktails. The energy was electric, and the excitement carried into dinner, held in the beautifully dimly lit barrel room at Stillwater Venue, a premier Oregon wedding venue known for its romantic ambiance. Before everyone began dinner, the couple played their elopement video for their guests, adding an emotional and personal touch to the evening. Guests indulged in an exquisite meal, savoring every bite in the warm and intimate setting.
The evening was intimate, special, and truly personal to our sweet couple. Design elements were modern, minimal, and featured a palette of black, white, and neutral tones—romantic and elegant, just like our couple. Thoughtfully curated wedding décor and floral arrangements added to the sophisticated aesthetic, making this a dream wedding reception for those who love a refined, contemporary style.
As the night continued, the dance floor beckoned, and guests celebrated with the couple late into the night. A delectable wedding dessert spread added the perfect finishing touch to an already magical evening. Our favorite part of the night? When guests circled the couple for their last song and serenaded them with With Somebody Who Loves Me while holding candles. It was a breathtaking and emotional moment that captured the essence of their love story.
This unforgettable wedding reception was a perfect blend of romance, surprise, and heartfelt celebration—an inspiration for couples planning a unique elopement followed by a grand reception. Whether you’re dreaming of an intimate elopement in a scenic destination like Joshua Tree or a luxurious wedding reception at one of Oregon’s top venues, this celebration proves that love, above all, is meant to be celebrated in the most meaningful way possible.

Why Microweddings Are the Perfect Choice for Your Oregon Wedding: Intimate Weddings in Portland, Bend, Oregon's Wine Country, Hood River & Oregon Coast
Why Smaller Weddings Are the New Big Thing: The Magic of Microweddings for 40 Guests or Less
Planning a wedding is one of the most exciting—and sometimes overwhelming—experiences in life. But what if we told you that you don’t have to throw a huge party to create an unforgettable day? More couples are turning toward microweddings, where the guest list stays small—typically 40 people or less—while the experience remains nothing short of extraordinary. As a Portland wedding planner, we’ve seen firsthand how intimate weddings create an atmosphere of connection, meaning, and genuine celebration.
In this blog, we’ll dive into the pros and cons of microweddings and why smaller weddings in Oregon Wine Country, Bend, Hood River, and along the stunning Oregon Coast are the perfect way to tell your love story. Whether you're planning a local wedding or a destination wedding in Oregon, we’ll show you how you can have it all—style, sophistication, amazing food, and a celebration that feels truly you.
What is a Microwedding?
A microwedding is just what it sounds like: a wedding with fewer guests, typically no more than 40. This isn’t about cutting corners; it's about making every detail count. You’ll have more time to focus on what matters most: the people who mean the most to you and the overall experience of the day.
Often, couples choose microweddings because they want a more intimate experience—whether that means saying "I do" surrounded by close family or a carefully curated guest list that only includes their absolute favorite people.
As an Oregon wedding planner , we love microweddings because they allow us to create a unique, personalized experience that puts your love story front and center. And we predict that, given current trends and economic shifts, microweddings are going to become even more popular in the coming years. Couples are prioritizing experiences that feel deeply personal and meaningful—and fewer guests often translates to more moments that truly matter.
The Pros of a Microwedding
1. A More Personal and Memorable Experience
When you host a smaller wedding, you get to truly focus on your guests and create an experience that’s personal to them. With fewer people, it’s easier to craft meaningful moments, tell your story, and engage in intimate conversations. Every guest feels included, and you'll have more time to enjoy them rather than rushing through the evening.
You can build deeper connections by tailoring the ceremony, vows, and reception experience to reflect your relationship. Whether it’s sharing your journey through a heartfelt speech or having a quiet moment for everyone to appreciate the ceremony, the smaller guest list amplifies the emotional resonance of your day.
Microweddings don’t just feel intimate; they feel authentic, and they allow you to genuinely celebrate your love story with the people who matter most.
2. Budget Flexibility
One of the major advantages of a microwedding is that you can allocate your budget to the things that matter most to you—whether that's hiring an expert wedding planner, curating a gourmet dining experience, or opting for a stunning venue in Oregon Wine Country, Bend, Hood River, or even along the Oregon Coast. Without the pressure of accommodating a large number of guests, you can invest more into each detail, from top-notch food and beverage options to designer florals and breathtaking décor.
In Portland, Bend, or any of Oregon’s other stunning locales, the quality of your wedding experience doesn’t have to take a backseat to a larger guest list. You can still have high-end food, fine wine, and luxurious décor that leave a lasting impression on everyone.
3. Focus on Guest Experience
In a large wedding, it can sometimes feel like you're hosting a party for the sake of being "the host." With a smaller wedding, the guest experience can be far more intentional. You can offer unique touches, like custom welcome gifts, personalized seating arrangements, or even a private wine tasting experience if you're getting married in Oregon Wine Country or Hood River.
Your guests will remember the time they spent with you—not just the ceremony, but also the moments they shared with you. Whether it’s chatting over cocktails or dancing under the stars in a vineyard or a private venue by the Oregon Coast, your day will feel like a true celebration of both love and relationships.
4. Less Stress and More Flexibility
With fewer guests, your wedding timeline becomes more relaxed. There's less to manage, meaning you can truly enjoy the moments without the constant rush of a big event. Many couples opting for microweddings also take advantage of the relaxed vibe by choosing non-traditional venues—maybe a gorgeous private estate in Bend, a stunning vineyard in Oregon Wine Country, or a scenic location by the Oregon Coast. You have the flexibility to design a wedding day that reflects your vision, whether it’s intimate and romantic or trendy and unique.
5. More Time with Your Guests
In a smaller wedding, you have the luxury of spending quality time with each of your guests. Instead of saying hello to hundreds of people in passing, you’ll have the opportunity to sit, chat, laugh, and bond with your nearest and dearest. This creates lasting memories for both you and your guests—a far cry from the whirlwind of a larger wedding where you may not get to enjoy the day as much.
The Cons of a Microwedding
1. Limited Guest List
This might seem obvious, but with fewer guests, some family members and friends might not make the cut. It’s important to have realistic expectations around your guest list and remember that, at the end of the day, this is your day—your love story. While you may not be able to invite everyone you know, you’ll create a more meaningful experience for the people who are closest to you.
2. Less Flexibility for “Traditional” Wedding Elements
For some, a smaller wedding might feel like it’s missing certain traditional wedding elements, like a grand ballroom reception, a massive dance floor, or a multi-tier cake. While microweddings allow for more personalization, couples may need to rethink some of these traditional ideas. But the silver lining? This is an opportunity to get creative and embrace non-traditional options that align with your values and style.
3. Budget Considerations for Non-Local Guests
If you're planning a destination microwedding—say, in the stunning Oregon Wine Country, Bend, Hood River, or along the Oregon Coast—some guests may face travel or accommodation challenges. While a destination wedding can be incredibly intimate, you’ll want to think about your guests' ability to attend and how you can make it as easy and enjoyable for them as possible. Offering group accommodations or even a weekend itinerary can make the trip more inviting.
Microweddings: A Celebration of Style, Intimacy, and Connection
Whether you're envisioning a chic and intimate ceremony at a vineyard in Oregon Wine Country, a stunning mountain backdrop in Bend, or a coastal escape on the Oregon Coast, a microwedding allows you to celebrate your love in a way that feels true to you—without compromising on style, food, or experience.
As a Portland, Bend, and Hood River wedding planner specializing in intimate weddings, we understand the importance of crafting an experience that reflects your unique love story. From customized décor to a curated guest experience, we’re here to help make your microwedding dreams a reality.
Given the current economic climate, we anticipate that microweddings will only continue to grow in popularity, as couples increasingly seek experiences that are both meaningful and memorable—without the financial burden of a large wedding. In fact, the simplicity and intimacy of a microwedding often make it the sweetest, most heartfelt celebration you can have.
If you're ready to create a wedding day that’s all about the people who matter most, get in touch with us to start planning your intimate celebration today. We can’t wait to help you make memories that will last a lifetime.

A Dreamy October Wedding at Lachini Vineyards in Oregon Wine Country
As wedding planners in the heart of Oregon Wine Country, we’ve had the privilege of working with countless couples who choose this stunning region for their big day. And let us tell you, Lachini Vineyards is one of our absolute favorites—and not just because it’s practically in our backyard. Just four stop signs away from our office, this gem of a venue is part of our community, and we’re thrilled to share it with couples from around the world who appreciate great wine, incredible views, and an authentic sense of place.
The new Tuscan-inspired villa at Lachini Vineyards is quickly making waves as one of the most sought-after wedding venues in Oregon Wine Country. This October, the venue was the site of a truly magical wedding—a celebration that perfectly captured the beauty of the venue, the warmth of the couple’s love, and the unmatched charm of this wine country region.
On this picture-perfect fall day, the couple envisioned a celebration that was equal parts elegance and simplicity. They opted for a black-and-white color palette accented with soft greens, allowing the natural beauty of the vineyard and the surrounding Yamhill Valley to take center stage. With its sweeping views of the vineyard and surrounding hills, Lachini Vineyards couldn’t have been a more perfect setting for this romantic, intimate wedding.
Guests were greeted with a chilled splash of rosé, offering a refreshing start to the celebration as they took in the incredible views. The ceremony took place on the expansive lawn, where the couple exchanged vows with a panoramic view of the vineyard and Yamhill Valley as their backdrop. With the fall foliage in full color and the vineyard’s rows stretching endlessly behind them, the setting couldn’t have been more romantic. It was a beautiful reminder of why we love this area: the peace and beauty of nature surround you at every turn.
After the ceremony, guests made their way to the two-tiered outdoor patios of the new Tuscan villa for cocktail hour. This was the perfect opportunity to enjoy the stunning views while indulging in delicious bites. A standout moment of the evening came from the groom’s sister, who owns a charcuterie company in Missouri. She curated a beautiful and mouthwatering charcuterie display, which became the centerpiece of the cocktail hour. Not only was it a culinary treat, but also a work of art—vibrant cheeses, perfectly cured meats, and carefully selected accompaniments that reflected the couple’s love for family, food, and fine craftsmanship. It was a personal and special touch that added a warm, welcoming feel to the celebration and gave guests a taste of the couple’s unique story.
One of the highlights of the evening was the food, which was expertly catered by the couple’s favorite Portland-based restaurant, Gumba. Known for their exceptional Italian-inspired cuisine, Gumba went above and beyond, creating a meal that was both sophisticated and comforting. The couple's love for food was evident in every dish, and it wasn’t just the main courses that stole the show. Gumba also crafted a show-stopping cannoli tower, filled with homemade cannolis that added a decadent and delightful touch to the dessert spread. The cannoli tower was a true showpiece, and it became a fun centerpiece for guests to gather around and indulge in a sweet, traditional Italian treat.
As the evening went on, the couple’s beloved dog, Romeo, made another appearance—this time on the dance floor. After his adorable cameo during portraits, he took center stage once again, dancing alongside his mom and dad as they shared their first dance with their furry friend. Romeo brought an unexpected burst of joy and energy to the celebration, reminding everyone how meaningful and fun it can be to incorporate family—four-legged members included—into your wedding day. The dance floor quickly became his domain as guests couldn’t help but gather around to cheer him on.
At Lachini Vineyards, the blend of modern luxury and rustic charm offers the best of both worlds. As wedding planners who’ve worked with many venues in Oregon Wine Country, we can confidently say that Lachini Vineyards stands out for its combination of breathtaking natural beauty, exceptional service, and the most welcoming, community-driven atmosphere. Fresh Cuts
Written By: Sabrina Peters
When our friends from Easton Broad reached out, asking if we wanted to plan a styled shoot that showed the breadth of their venue, we couldn’t say no. Hosting an event at a venue like Easton Broad, where the overall aesthetic is clean and contemporary, is a planner's dream. We look at it as a blank canvas where any style can be brought to life.
Styled shoots take time, energy and resources from everyone involved. They allow us to play with color and concepts, to try something new. While the options are limitless, we put as much strategy and planning into a styled shoot as we do any other event. Why? Because it’s an opportunity to flex our creative muscles, and show what we can do. It’s also a chance to get to know vendors we may follow on the gram, but have never had the pleasure of working with.
This shoot wasn’t about people or a love story. It was about featuring the swoon-worthy details we all want to see.
We wanted to take a fresh approach on some traditionally classic table designs, and show how they all fit at Easton Broad. We designed three concepts. Snowed In, Evergreen, and Pink & Pine.
Snowed In.
The inspiration behind this design was golden hour at the end of a snow day. The color palette was based off monochromatic creams and whites, but elevated with notes of oatmeal and brown sugar. We wanted to show how to execute a neutral palette that’s both visually interesting and elegant. The key was bringing in texture with the details. Choosing pieces like a vanilla linen with a slight weave, a water glass with a raised design, then matte bone plates to balance it all out, created a tablescape that was warm and inviting, yet crisp and clean. The florals hit just the right notes on both color and texture, harmonizing all the pieces on the table beautifully.
Designer tip - many event venues include 6 and 8 foot banquet tables with their rental contract. Couples usually find that as a big selling point as that would allow them to save on rentals. While they are ways to make a linen-topped table contemporary and modern, if your vision consists of tables that don’t require a linen, keep that in mind as you plan your rental budget.

Evergreen.
This is how we do holiday. Modern & elegant lines with rich, luxe hues to make it pop. We were inspired by the Christian dinner plates from Great Jones NW, and built the design from there. It's festive not fussy. It's sharp and smart. The balance strikes just right.
Tables, chairs and candleholders provided by Lily and Cane, salad and dinner plates provided by Great Jones, flatware, napkins and glassware provided by Arden Event Collective.
Pink & Pine.
This was our pièce de résistance. This design was inspired by Sabrina’s grandmother, Josie, who has collected green and pink depression glass for decades. “I wanted to create something that celebrated our shared love of all things vintage without it feeling dated - as if Josie hosted a ladies’ luncheon at Anthro.”
Using Lily and Cane’s stunning white lacquer table as the base, the design blended various textures, styles and genres. We used a myriad of blush, sage and lavender bud vases, paired with contemporary pink tea light holders that donned a geometric pattern. We brought ceramic pieces into the mix, in order to anchor the sea of pastel colored glass. The mint salad plates atop the cream china looked like candy on a table.
While there was a vision for this look, we knew the execution would heavily depend on the “floral runner” we requested of Pollinate Flowers. We gave them the floral vessels and a high-level concept, and they ran with it. The end result was a fresh take on fancy that was Josie-approved.
Tables, chairs, votives and ceramic vases provided by Lily and Cane. Dishware, flatware and napkins provided by Arden Event Collective. Glass vases provided by Great Jones.
One of the best things about a styled shoot is having a plan, but also having the gift of flexibility. Easton Broad has a built-in bartender, so while we were setting tables, he started whipping up cocktails that mapped to each design. Each drink added so much flare and flavor to the setup - we’re a glass half full kind of team, so having Aaron fill our glasses with pretty cocktails felt fitting.
Being that J29 Events is a local, female-owned business, we strive to support our boss babe community every chance we get. We brought a fun twist to this shoot by incorporating curated gifts and favors from Ames and Oates, a Beaverton-based gifting company owned by Deena Selbak, a well-known photographer in the area.
We’ve said it once and we’ll say it again - detail is everything. From your forks to your favors, if you put energy and effort into being intentional with your selection of pieces that feel innately you, it will make all the difference.

Playful Elegance at Brasada Ranch in Bend, Oregon
Written By: Sabrina Peters
Miranda and Gentry didn’t have any preconceived ideas about their wedding day. No attachment to color, vibe, flowers, location. All they wanted was an epic wedding weekend, celebrating their lives being joined together, by doing what they love most – making memories with their favorite people.
Miranda and Gentry are both from California, and Lake Tahoe has always held a special place in their hearts. They wanted a location that felt like Tahoe but was somewhere most of their friends and family hadn’t been. Brasada Ranch in Bend, Oregon was the perfect destination.
From their rehearsal dinner to their poolside welcome party to their big day, every event was lighthearted, fun and inviting. The overall tone was playfully elegant – bright colors and thoughtful, personal details throughout.
Miranda and Gentry wanted to welcome their guests with gifts that set the tone for their festive wedding weekend. They worked with a local company, Ames and Oates, to curate bridal party gifts, guest welcome boxes and customized wedding favors.
Miranda gifted each of her bridesmaids a colorful poolside box, complete with Supergoop sunscreen, a quick dry towel, a mini chocolate, a can of French 75, as a nod to the groom, and eye masks to keep them feeling their best on the big day.
Upon arrival to Brasada, all guests received a welcome box with salty and sweet snacks, a mini travel tin of Jacobsen Salt, canned Aperol Spritz drinks, mini chocolates, and a custom map of Brasada with their wedding weekend agenda, crafted by a local artist, The Scribblist.
Olive trees were sentimental to the bride and groom, so many of their decor details incorporated olive branches. For their wedding favors, Ames and Oates sourced and engraved wine openers with an olive wood handle to complement the overall wedding design.
The star of this vision was the color palette. A foundation of warm and bright summer hues like coral, salmon, and peach were balanced with cooler tones of dusty blue and sage. Marigold was brought into the mix to add a sunny pop to the bridal party attire. When designing with a palette this broad, it's important to be intentional with placement of color and texture, in order to achieve the right harmony.
In our experience, every client has one sticking point during the planning process that they fine tune to the Nth degree. For Miranda, it was her mix and match bridesmaid dresses. Curating a bridal party look with various shades, textures, patterns, and lengths, all within her wide palette was a tall order. She searched high and low to find dresses that not only struck the right balance, but also showcased each individual’s personality. All that energy and effort paid off - the end result was stunning.
Miranda and Gentry’s ceremony was held on the Range Lawn at Brasada. They chose to keep their ceremony décor minimal but bright, so as not to take away from the spectacular panoramic views of the Cascade Mountains. All that framed them were two vibrant floral arrangements and all their favorite people.
The importance of delicious food, wine and cocktails was high on the list for both Miranda and Gentry. They worked together with the team at Brasada Ranch to curate menus for each event that represented them as a couple and as individuals. Their rehearsal dinner had a beautifully coordinated wine pairing, featuring Miranda and Gentry's favorite labels. On their wedding day, cocktail hour featured two signature drinks - a Paper Plane, made with local Burnside Bourbon, and a White Lady, which included Butterfly Pea Gin, in order to complement the shade of lavender found in the florals.
Since the color palette for this event was complex and extensive, the integrity of the overall design heavily depended on the blend of tone and texture within the florals. The arrangements created by our ever-so-talented florist, Jacci of Poppy Cart, brought everything together seamlessly.
Her composition of floral types and hues hit all the right notes, creating a look that felt both organic and elegant, playful yet polished. For the round guest tables, she created custom olive branch wreaths with pops of color. They were the perfect complement to the room, and brought a unique, fresh approach to a round table floral design.
During their reception reveal, Gentry, the groom, said he couldn’t believe how seamless it all was. “It felt like so many different colors on paper - I wasn’t sure how it was all going to come together…But in person, it all works. It’s incredible.”
Every ounce of detail within this design was intentional. The signage created by Letters and Dust was all custom color matched from the vision board, the tea light candle holders from Curated Event Rentals were the perfect shade of sage and had just the right texture to balance the dusty blue water goblets at each place setting. From the food & drink selections to the tablescape, down to the gifts for guests, it was a harmonious symphony of playfully vibrant color and inviting, yet elegant design.
While trying to find the right shade of taper candle for the head table, Sabrina remembered a past bride, Jennifer Pasko, who used tapers from Roots Candles that were an exquisite peach hue but had since been discontinued. The bride happened to have two boxes left, and graciously gifted them to Miranda as a wedding gift. We love our clients so much, but when beautiful things like this happen, it reminds us what an incredible community of clients - past, present and future - surrounds us.
The bride, Miranda, loves sweets, so their wedding cake needed to be as delicious as it was beautiful. Miranda and Gentry opted for a small two-tiered lemon cake from Papa Haydn, as well as a seasonal berry crumble, made by Brasada, and custom butterscotch pudding with a pine nut cookie, provided by a local restaurant, Drake, located in downtown Bend.
As a tribute to her parents, one of the memories she's wanted to capture was recreating her parents' cake cutting moment from their special day. As a surprise to the bride, Sabrina worked with the florist to buy additional flowers to decorate her cake just as it was on her parents' wedding day. The floral decor still complemented the overall design for Miranda and Gentry, but it donned coral and peach spray roses and carnations, just as her parents' cake did all those years ago.
Miranda and her family suffered a devastating loss when her father, Dewey, passed away unexpectedly seven years ago. Dewey’s existence was one that could not be denied. He was that man who brought light, love and fun everywhere he went. Sabrina, the Lead Producer, has known Miranda and her family for over 20 years, so she worked with Miranda to honor her father’s spirit and presence with heartfelt, genuine moments throughout the day.
There were bar signs titled "Drinks On Dewey," as he was always that guy buying everyone a round. Gentry’s father, Eric, and Dewey share a love of the same cigars - No. 5 Montecristos. We included a cigar bar and smoking lounge, complete with mid-century modern leather seating that would make Don Draper look twice. One of Dewey's famous lines was "Show Me Don't Tell Me," so Miranda and Gentry had a neon sign made, which was featured behind the smoking lounge. There were photos of Dewey from his wedding day, as well as ones with Miranda, at both the welcome table and bar. Dewey’s heart and soul was softly woven throughout the whole weekend, and we think he would have thought it was one hell of a party.
Miranda and Gentry partied under the stars with beloved friends and family - their wedding weekend was filled with more joy than they ever could have imagined. Everyone celebrated with every ounce of their being, leaving nothing on the table.
Miranda and Gentry, it was our absolute honor to plan your wedding alongside you. Thank you for your kindness, your trust, your fun-loving attitude. We wish you and your beautiful baby boy, Dewey, nothing but love and happiness as you embark on this next adventure - can’t wait to see what comes next.

How to Honor Your Grandparents on Your Wedding Day
Written By: Sabrina Peters
If you are lucky enough to have a relationship with your grandparents in the adult stage of your life, you know it is a bond that goes unmatched.
There are so many traditional ways to weave your adoration for your grandparents into your wedding day - wearing an heirloom as your something borrowed, featuring their wedding photo at your welcome or dessert table, sharing the same first dance song. The list goes on and on.
When our bride, Kelsey, came to us, asking for ideas on how to honor her relationship with her beloved Pepere, we suggested doing a first look.
Pepere was a classic grandpa if there ever was one - he was witty, funny, with a touch of sass, and above all else, he was smitten with his granddaughter.
Don't take our word for it - grab some tissues and watch this clip, captured by Northwest Film Co.
We weren’t the only ones that loved this moment - Read more about Kelsey & Pepere on Good Morning America & ABC News

Chic & Modern Neutral Wedding in the Columbia Gorge
Written By: Sabrina Peters
Our story begins the night of game 4 of the NBA Finals, Warriors vs. Celtics. Steph Curry was on fire….Oh wait, is that not how most wedding blogs start? If Jordan and Scott had any say, it absolutely would be.
When this unassuming, delightful couple landed in our inbox, we vetted the inquiry like usual and had our meet and greet call. When we got off the phone, we knew we were a match made in heaven. It’s that same feeling you get after an incredible first date, when you know there’s so much good coming your way.
Jordan and Scott are one of those powerhouse couples – they’re both successful, good-looking, smart and creative. They’re driven, a touch competitive and a perfect fit for one another.
Their personal style is modern, chic and neutral - three words that are music to our ears. We plan and style weddings of all shapes and colors, but when you come to us wanting a taupe palette with sexy black and bone detailing, we’re here for it.
The morning of their wedding was beautiful. The Gorge was showing off for all of Jordan and Scott’s out of town guests – the crisp June air and dappled lighting, shining through the slight cloud cover, made for a quintessential Oregon morning.
The weather report for the rest of the evening wasn’t quite as dreamy. The rain was scheduled to come at 2 pm, and 60 mile-an-hour winds weren’t far behind. When the photographer, Mariana Tey, arrived, we quickly came up with a revised plan to ensure we could get all the outdoor photos we needed before the weather shifted. Jordan and Scott were game to be flexible, so we pushed up the timeline and made it happen.
And then…the rain came. A few days before the big day, we had put our rain plan into action, but we held out hope the weather would subside in time for an epic cliffside ceremony. Floral structures had been placed, umbrellas were ready and waiting for guests, but as the afternoon went on, we knew we needed to shift to plan C.
As the ceremony start time drew near, we received a call from our transportation partner, letting us know there was a five-car pile-up on the highway, delaying the arrival of Jordan and Scott’s wedding guests by an estimated hour and a half. While that seemed like not so great news, it gave us an idea.
The Griffin House has a permanent tent structure on the property where Jordan and Scott had planned to have their reception. While we were standing in the tent, putting finishing touches on the tables, we realized that if we simply opened two of the panels and framed it right, suddenly, we had a lush, sweeping view of the gorge. We approached Jordan and Scott with the idea to flip the finished reception space into their new ceremony location, then reset during cocktail hour. It would be an all-hands-on-deck mission for our vendor team, but with the delayed arrival of the guests, we could make it happen.
Jordan and Scott gave us the green light, and we got to work.
The amount of hustle that ensued was legendary. Let’s be very clear – this type of scenario is not one we can do alone. It took every vendor we had to move tables, place chairs, repurpose florals, etc. to get it done in time. But the end result was well worth it. Special shout out to our catering partner, Chef’s Table, and ever-so-fabulous florist, Wildflower PDX. You both were incredible, so thank you.
Just as we were finishing the set up for their new ceremony location, we got a call that the traffic had cleared, and guests would be arriving shortly.
Everything went off without a hitch – the room was filled with so much love and all the feels for Jordan and Scott. At the end of the day, that’s what it’s all about.
After the ceremony, right before cocktail hour, something magical happened. As Jordan and Scott were getting ready to pour their champagne tower and kick off the party, the rain stopped and the sun broke through the clouds. It made for the sweetest moment and felt like a wedding gift from the universe.
After cocktails, guests were invited to find their seat for dinner inside the tent. In lieu of a traditional welcome table, Jordan and Scott gave us creative license to come up with a simple, unique alternative. We decided on a vintage gold bar cart, acrylic card box and audio guest book from After the Tone, all of which were very fitting for their minimalist, modern vibe.
As we tell all our couples, your wedding design should reflect who you are as individuals and as a couple. Jordan and Scott’s style is modern and neutral – their reception décor was just that, but with an elevated, elegant approach. Every element included was intentional and served a purpose.
The contemporary Kaleb stoneware plates and matte gold flatware, placed alongside the etched old-fashioned water glasses set the tone for this clean, elegant tablescape.
We wove in texture by adding touches of velvet to the overall design – the Bone velvet napkins from BBJ La Tavola tied in beautifully with the bridesmaid dresses, while the rust velvet armchairs in the lounge brought a complimentary pop of color.
The floral design was simple and inviting. Each arrangement brought Jordan and Scott’s warm, neutral color palette to life – the tabletop vessel choices and unique designs made by Chas from Wildflower PDX were nothing short of inspired and made for an effortless harmony of old and new.
The night went on and the rain poured down while Jordan, Scott, and all their favorite people enjoyed a delicious dinner, provided by Chef’s Table. We were back on schedule and full steam ahead.
Just when we thought we were in the clear, Mother Nature decided to throw us one more curveball. Right after dancing began, the power went out in all of Hood River. While we hustled to restore power, we turned to our DJ, Dillon, from John Ross Productions to keep the party going. Within minutes, he hooked up his mobile speaker, and got people back on the dance floor without missing a beat (pun fully intended).
The rest of the night was as dreamy as could be – the Warriors won, delicious s’mores from 1927 S’mores were had, and cocktails provided by our friends at Stirred Bartending were flowing.
With any event, there will be challenges to overcome - we can promise you that. But the most important thing to remember is to take them in stride, and lean into your wedding day support system.
As your vendor team, we’re here to be the steady hand, but also be flexible and solution-driven. We come to the table with a calm head and options, so you can keep your focus on what’s important.
We can’t stress enough the importance of the people you choose to be around you on your big day – vendor partners and bridal party included. When things don’t go as planned, it’s the job of the bridal party to pour you a drink, turn up the music and keep you focused on putting one foot in front of the other until you’re down the aisle. That’s exactly what Jordan and Scott’s people did. Gold stars across the board for every one of their bridesmaids and groomsmen.
Jordan and Scott, you were an absolute dream. We felt so honored to be a small part of such an important day in your life, and we miss you terribly. Thank you for your trust, your love and your friendship.

Modern, Black Tie Coastal Wedding Affair
Written by Sabrina Peters, J29 Events
As we walked onto the grounds where Jenna and Phillip planned to say their ‘I do’s,’ the sun was glistening across the ocean, the breeze was softly rustling through the trees, and you could hear the waves crashing onto the beach below. It was one of those rare and spectacular October days in Oregon, and all I can remember was smiling to myself, thinking these two deserve it all. Jenna and Phillip were one of our pandemic couples – they had been faced with their fair share of hurdles, but their biggest challenge was that they were forced to find a new venue just months before their wedding day, as their original venue closed its doors.
The views from The Pointe were nothing short of magical – as the morning mist rolled in over the ocean, it felt like you were standing at the edge of Never Never Land. It was the perfect setting for their cliffside, black tie affair.
The overall vision for their wedding day was modern, elegant and intimate. They wanted dinner under the stars with their closest family and friends. Jenna and Phillip celebrated with a beautiful, traditional Jewish ceremony, featuring a custom made chuppah, built by the groom himself.
The color palette was soft and subtle – ivory, white, and the slightest touches of pale pink.
Adding in contrast with compliments of black and brushed gold brought balance and sophistication to the design.
There was something about being at the beach that felt so right for this couple. They have a casual yet classic elegance about them.
They opted to take a moment before the ceremony to read their vows to one another in private. It was a true reflection of who they are, and you can see by the way they look at each other how much love there is between them.
Cocktail hour did not disappoint. We always recommend picking custom cocktails that truly represent the couple as individuals. In this case, it rang true – Old Fashioned for the groom, and a Spicy Paloma for the bride. Between the sun-kissed cliffside & champagne tower, built from our favorite Chin coupes from Great Jones NW, the evening was off to a beautiful start.
At their reception, guests were invited to be seated at a long, family style table under a sea of twinkle lights.
The tablescape featured Bone velvet linens by BBJ La Tavola, modern glassware and matte black flatware. Atop each bread and butter plate was a set of miniature French macaroons for their guests to enjoy.
The night sky was incredible – the stars were out and the moon was bright – it was a picturesque Pacific Northwest evening.
Jenna and Phillip, thank you for allowing us to be a part of your special day. We simply adore you and wish you all the love in the world.

5 Must Have Items for a Wedding During a Heat Wave
Historically, the Pacific Northwest has been known to have mild summers that begin after the 4th of July. However, with global warming, we’re seeing much warmer summers that extend beyond July-August. Now more than ever, it’s critical to prepare for heat and a lot of sun. We’re here to share five must have items for a wedding during a heat wave (and a few more that are tucked in for good measure).
SHADE
When booking a venue, it’s important to consider your rain plan and shade/heat plan. Does the venue have an indoor space that can be utilized? If not, where is the best location for a tent and or shade umbrellas? When considering heat plans, shade is important but air conditioning may also be crucial when temperatures approach the 90’s or 100 degree mark. Some tents have the capacity to add a thermostat for air conditioning or heat. While clear top tents are absolutely stunning, they serve as a greenhouse and will roast your unsuspecting guests. White tops or a Sperry tent are a much better option. We also add tents for catering so this will need to be factored in to your budget.
Market umbrellas are another great option when wind isn’t an element. We can stage these in a space that doesn’t need complete shade for guests who need a little reprieve from the heat. One note to remember, market umbrellas will tip over easily, even with a weighted base. If there is any breeze what so ever, a market umbrella should not be considered; Shade Sails are an excellent alternative.
Parasols are fun and photo friendly shade detail. We like to make these available for guests as they arrive. These photograph well and add an ere of charm. Just as we think of all guests with umbrellas, please consider all guests when purchasing or renting parasols.
WATER
“Hydrate or diedrate” is the token phrase in the athletic training world but can also be applied to the events world on a hot day. Make water and non-alcoholic beverages available to guests upon arrival. We like to offer guests chilled cucumber water or lavender lemonade on those extra hot days. Be prepared for guests to go through water and ice quickly; provide extra water carafes for each table so water is within reach.
Please also consider your vendors. We are working extra hard to keep your guests cool and comfortable and often forget to take care of ourselves. We provide our team with Liquid IV to ensure that we are well hydrated throughout your wedding day.
COOLING
Sometimes, despite our best attempts, cooling a tent and providing shade just won’t cut it at a venue without air conditioning. Thankfully, we can bring in industrial fans and misters if need be. We can also bring in industrial air conditioning to cool a venue but this comes with a price tag and some last minute hustle.
Hand held fans can be a cute addition for cooling guests and can pull double duty as a program or fun wedding detail.
Don’t forget about your bridal party members in suits. They will be out in the sun/heat far longer than guests and usually during the heat of the day. We like to include cooling neck wraps and gel ice packs during those pre-ceremony hours in case it gets really hot. Another thing to consider during the planning process is attire. Please, please, please do not put your bridal party or family members in wool suits or silk dresses (hello, sweat marks!). Consider lighter weight, wicking, or light colored attire if there is any chance that you will be getting married on a hot day.
COOL TREATS
What could be a better than a chilly treat? Hand scooped ice cream courtesy of Salt & Staw or boozy popsicles from Sloshy Pops make a fun addition that will leave your guests cooled off and talking long after your special day is over. Again, don’t forget about non-alcoholic options.
PATIENCE
Heat makes all of us a little grumpy. We get it. Above all, have patience and grace. Your planner and vendor team will be working in overdrive to ensure that you and your guests are as comfortable as can be (all while roasting themselves) so please extend a little extra understanding. Rushing to plan for a heat plan can be stressful so plan ahead, just as you would if planning ahead for a rain plan. And remember, at the end of the day - your guests just want to celebrate you and have a good time.

Classic & Contemporary Wedding in the Pacific Northwest
It was a beautiful morning in the Columbia Gorge, and we were in the middle of a double-header wedding weekend in Hood River. It was September, which for us, is one of the busiest months of the year.
While eating breakfast the morning before our Sunday event, we decided to check the weather again for the upcoming weekend. We were scheduled to be back in the Gorge on Saturday for Ali and Wyatt’s big day at a local private residence. Much to our surprise, the weather report had taken a drastic turn – what was supposed to be a lovely 75 and sunny afternoon in Oregon, was now forecasted to be stormy with sideways rain. We immediately reached out to our couple, Ali and Wyatt, whose wedding was just 6 days away.
Ali and Wyatt had booked us for Day of Coordination, so once we were aware of the situation, we asked if they wanted us to step in and come up with a solution. With only six days until their wedding and no rain plan on the books, they gave us the green light and we got cracking.
Their wedding was held at a bed and breakfast turned private residence, Husum Highlands. This venue had hosted a handful of other events on the property before, but none with this many guests and this much rain. This property featured a charming 1890s Victorian home, with vast, sweeping views of Mt. Hood and the White Salmon River. While the weather was shaping up to be less than ideal, it was important to maintain the sentiment behind having an outdoor wedding in September in the Columbia Gorge. We didn’t want to take away from the property, so we worked to establish a rain plan that allowed the PNW to shine.
We hustled day and night to source a 70-foot tent that would span the length of the reception space, as well as a smaller tent to cover the cocktail area and dance floor. PDX Jumpers, a Portland-based rental company, made themselves available in the midst of a crazy busy season, and saved the day. Layout designs became fluid conversations, and we had plans A-F sitting in the wings. We had Ali and Wyatt on speed dial all week, and became very well acquainted with the owner of the venue. One thing to know about our team - it truly doesn’t matter to us what package you book. If you need us in a pinch, we’ll get it done.
Guests stayed at The Society Hotel in Bingen, WA, which is quickly becoming one of our most beloved hotels for a wedding weekend in the Gorge. The contemporary architecture and mid-century modern wood paneling provided the perfect setting for Ali and Wyatt’s bridal party photos and detail shots.
The design of this wedding was a beautiful blend of classic and contemporary. Ali’s long-sleeve lace gown next to her wavy, flowing auburn hair was sensational. Wyatt and his groomsmen donned crisp, midnight blue suits from The Black Tux, paired with sharp, black bow ties. The ladies wore cinnamon satin slip dresses from BLHDN. Notes of terracotta and dusty rose, paired with flat gold, ivory and stone, created the perfect color palette for this September soirée.
On the day of the wedding, there were pockets of sunshine and rain, which presented us with a handful of weather challenges as we set up. This vendor team was spectacular. We worked together harmoniously and seamlessly – roles and titles felt fluid, and everyone pitched in to bring it all to life. A special shout out to Chas with Wildflower Portland and Carlos of Carlos Hernandez Photography. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts – it truly does take a village.
The tablescape was simple and elegant. Crisp Havana Ivory linens, matte white plates, vintage brass taper candle holders and rich terracotta dripless candles all came together beautifully in this classic, modern design.
Tables were set, candles were lit, and guests were about to arrive. About 45 minutes before the ceremony began, the rain came. Hard. Out came the umbrellas, the towels, the raincoats. Guests came prepared, and we moved along without a hitch. As guests filtered in, we had them follow us down each row of seats, drying off each chair as they sat down.
A few minutes after the ceremony began, it was like someone was looking down on us. The skies cleared and the rain stopped, just long enough for Ali and Wyatt to say their “I dos.”
After the ceremony, everyone was ready to celebrate. Willaby’s Catering served up delicious apps during cocktail hour and family-style pizza for dinner, and DJ Zimmie of Modern Event Solutions kept the party going all night.
This was one of those weddings that could have gone so many different ways. The attitude and demeanor of not only the bride and groom but also the entire vendor team was critical. There wasn’t a single frown or negative attitude to be had. It was an all hands on deck endeavor, where no effort went unnoticed or unappreciated.
Ali and Wyatt, you both have the loveliest disposition. We truly enjoyed planning your wedding alongside you – in all honesty, you both were just a whole lotta fun. Thank you for letting us be a small part of your big day, and Wyatt, we’ll be calling you sometime this summer to teach us how to Dougie.

Tradition Meets Modern | Catholic Castaway Wedding
We received the kindest words from the bride:
I absolutely loved everything about our wedding, but it was pretty standard haha! Since I have zero craft skills, one of my sisters designed made the stationary, another sister made our seating chart and everything else was collaborated by the amazing vendors. I feel very fortunate that all of the vendors I chose were so flexible, great communicators, and easy to work with.
Read below to hear more about their courtship and engagement!
Where did you two meet?
We met in 2007 at a college party. His roommate and my roommate are cousins, so we hung out a lot in similar circles. We were both dating other people and were just friends until 2009 when we officially started dating.
Tell us your engagement story!
Matt proposed on a summer trip to Skamania Lodge. I had secretly always wanted a photoshoot for our dog Judith (so embarrassing that everyone knows this now!) so he hired one for an evening. After a day of massages and wine tasting the pet photographer came and took the cutest photos of our dog. She asked us to be in some and told us that one of us should be up with the dog in the foreground and the other should be in the background - which sounded weird but she assured us "it really makes for a great shot, trust me". I was in front with my dog and the photographer told me to turn around and Matt was on one knee proposing! Judith could not care less and was focused on sitting to get a treat, but I loved every second of it and have the photos to capture it!
Tell us about your first date.

French Garden Inspired Outdoor Affair in the Columbia Gorge
By: Sabrina Peters, J29 Events
Jen and Tristan were one of those rare and delightful couples that come along every great once in a while. They start out as clients, turn into friends, and end up becoming a part of your family. Not only were they kind, funny, appreciative, and an overall joy to work alongside, but they had exquisite taste. They trusted us whole-heartedly to sew together the pieces of the most important day of their lives.
Jen and Tristan are both medical professionals, so Covid has been a large part of their world for the past few years. When they arrived for their wedding weekend with their nearest and dearest, they made it clear, it was time to let their hair down and celebrate.
Most of their friends and family aren’t from the Pacific Northwest, so a guest experience that embodies what the PNW has to offer was high on their list of priorities. Jen and Tristan enjoy good wine, delicious, local food, and appreciate a good bottle of scotch. We made sure that guests were able to imbibe throughout every point of the wedding weekend, weaving all of those elements of their lives into a harmonious experience.
Although she had a full plate planning a wedding and working as a Hepatobiliary surgeon in her day to day life, Jen compiled the most beautiful guest Welcome Bags that highlighted all locally sourced goods - Woodblock Chocolate, Ground Up nut butter, and adorable mini bottles of bubbles from Illahe Vineyards were just a few of the items featured. These bags were a gift in themselves. What a lovely way to be welcomed to their wedding weekend.
After getting settled at The Society Hotel in Bingen, WA, the bridal party and immediate family made their way to the rehearsal dinner at Cor Cellars, an excellent local winery nearby. The Mediterranean-inspired tablescape - complete with a Capri blue patterned linen from La Tavola, modern white dishware and Lucite flatware from Great Jones NW – created a lovely setting to kick off the festivities.
Boda’s Kitchen brought down the house with a stunning family-style charcuterie board to be enjoyed during cocktail hour. It was a beautiful beginning to their wedding weekend.
Just like with any creative process, there wasn’t a clearly defined vision at first for the overall tone of Jen and Tristan’s wedding. It wasn’t until we discovered an image of a floral bouquet with the right mix of color and texture that we were able to establish a color palette and get cracking.
Jen knew that she wanted a wedding style that was fitting for who she is. “I don’t want the same pink you see at every wedding. I like the idea of pink, but imagine the perfect French rosé. That’s what I want.” This became the overall inspiration for their wedding, and was a consideration at almost every touchpoint.
Soft, feminine shades of pink that mimic the perfect French rosé, paired with taupe, ivory and light peach tones created a warm, inviting palette amongst the family-style wood tables and beautiful backdrop. Incorporating light beige and dusty blue provided just enough contrast for visual interest, while maintaining the overall romantic look. Soft, flat gold touches served as subtle accents and offered texture variance.
In order to weave all the different colors within the vision together, the men were outfitted in smart, blue suits and light pink ties, provided by Generation Tux. They mirrored the elegant blue chargers on the tables that resembled the color of an unwashed blueberry. The ladies were in a lighter shade of dusty blue, in an assortment of mix and match dresses, provided by Revelry. The colors paired effortlessly with the natural landscape around them.
While this venue had a beautifully manicured outdoor space, florals played a huge part in bringing Jen and Tristan’s vision to life. The collaboration with Heirbloom Design was nothing short of magical. Kathryn put so much time, attention and care into making sure the flowers complemented both the overall design and tone.
One challenge we faced was trying to find a cost-effective way to hide a large portion of the wall behind the head table. The design of the wall didn’t flow with the overall look, so we worked together with Kathryn to establish a plan. Her installation was like icing on the cake. The textures and colors intertwined within this French garden-inspired install served as floral eye candy for the head table and truly brought everything together.
Jen and Tristan’s wedding day was the epitome of an ideal September afternoon in the Columbia Gorge. The sun-kissed mountains and blue skies made for a picturesque backdrop for their French garden inspired outdoor affair.
Upon arrival, guests were encouraged to enjoy a crisp, refreshing pre-ceremony cocktail – a Blackberry White Wine Spritzer, crafted by the ever-so-talented, White Pepper. The drinks were featured inside an array of fabulous, vintage pink champagne coupes, placed atop two staggered mirrored sofa tables, provided by Great Jones NW. It was a showstopper.
Jen asked her mother, Cathy, to walk her down the aisle on her big day. When Cathy was asked, “Who gives away this bride?” she responded, “Myself and her father in heaven.” There wasn’t a dry eye in the house. We understand it’s never easy to celebrate a major life milestone without a loved one. We do our best to work with the couple and dream up ideas on how to softly incorporate their presence. For Jen, the best way to pay homage to her dad was letting him buy everyone a drink during cocktail hour.
Once the ceremony was complete, everyone was ready to get the party started with either an Old Fashioned or Elderflower 75 in hand.
Jen and Tristan’s escort wall made us want to do a happy dance. Gold shelves adorned with rosè filled pink champagne flutes looked like candy on a shelf. Each guest was encouraged to find their name and table number upon the custom peach stir sticks within each glass. It was the pièce de résistance as guests took their seats for dinner.
Tablescape was of the utmost importance to Jen. She wanted the reception space to embody the overall tone of the wedding and give her, and her guests, all the feels. From the oversized taupe table runners that pooled onto the floor, to the rose-colored water goblets, to the epically color matched dripless candles by Roots Candles, it all came together better than we could have imagined.
The dinner menu provided by White Pepper was incredible, and keeping with the overall trend, Jen and Tristan selected custom wine pairings for each course. They chose wines that carried sentimental value to both of them, which made it feel all the more special. We’ve said it once, and we’ll say it again. It’s all in the details.
The night continued with so much love, champagne toasts, and a kick your shoes off kind of dance party. This group was a whole bunch of fun.
To cap off the evening, Jen and Tristan provided their guests with boxes of custom chocolate truffles, provided by Missionary Chocolates out of Portland. Each box had three pieces inside - salted vanilla caramel with Pinot Noir salt, raspberry and espresso. The flavors were intended to complement the dinner menu and wine being served behind the bar to tie everything together.
Nothing fills our cup more than when we get to plan and execute a wedding that truly feels like “you.” That’s why we do what we do. It’s your day, and we are so honored to be a part of it.
Jen and Tristan, it was an absolute pleasure. From the bottom of our little A-type, planner hearts, thank you and congratulations.
