Living in Northern California is truly magical – the mountains, redwood forest, and ocean are only a few miles in each direction from my house. It’s always our honor to help couples plan their destination wedding or elopement in the redwood forest – a request we get often as most couples want to “get married under the big trees” (many of them have never been here).
Carrie and Tommy were no different. They wanted to plan their destination elopement/mini wedding for a small group of 12 all the way from South Carolina.
The weather for their June wedding couldn’t have been more perfect. They started their day by getting ready at the historic Carter House Inn with their immediate families and a couple of close friends.
For their ceremony, they ventured to the north end of Humboldt County where the elk roam freely and the trees are bountiful.
Following their intimate redwood ceremony (and champagne!), the newlyweds spent time exploring with one of our incredible local photographers, Leon Villagomez. They made stops in Orick to get some shots with the elk, then on to Fern Canyon for some gorgeous couples portraits, concluding with shots on the beach as the sun was dipping lower… just in time before they needed to head back to The Carter House Inn for their intimate “reception” dinner where they dined on amazing local food and a mini donut spread.
Their day was perfect…. and that dress? To die for!
Next week we’ll spill the beans on our best tips for planning an elopement…. stay tuned!
