Historic Fern Cottage Wedding | Amy & Drew

Our drive down to Amy & Drew’s wedding was the wettest we’ve seen in a long time. Our windshield wipers were on full speed and that still wasn’t enough to get to their wedding in Ferndale, California  at the beautiful Historic Fern Cottage.  Thankfully, rain plans were set long before their date and we were able to make the change earlier in the week when the weather forecast looked bleak.

We love when a groom wears their traditional blues and Drew’s Navy blues didn’t disappoint. There’s just something special about seeing our military men and women dress up. Thanks for your service, Drew!

Amy & Drew each had one person in their bridal party, her maid of honor and his best man (also a member of the Navy).

Flora Organica Designs  brought the day to life with her stunning florals while vintage rentals by  Something Borrowed,  accompanied by lots of DIY signage, completed their look.

Now, I don’t know the luck of other wedding planners, but we have NEVER had it rain on a ceremony. Somehow by the grace of God, the skies always part just in time and every ceremony has been untouched by rain drops. That doesn’t mean that raindrops don’t fall steadily before or after but our ceremonies are always beautiful. The adorable  Ferndale Community Church  was reserved as a backup just in case. How cute is it?

After the ceremony, guests transitioned down the road to the beautiful  Historic Fern Cottage.  It’s sprawling gardens, cute barns and sheds, and orchards create the perfect setting for summer weddings.

Huge lawn game enthusiasts, Amy & Drew had custom bocce balls made for their big day.

Their romantic reception was held inside the “secret garden” walls (a fully enclosed shrub lawn). It was so intimate and cozy.

Each guest was gifted a hand tied blanket at their dinner seat to help keep them warm over the course of the evening.

Sweet Basil Catering  out of Ferndale provided a scrumptious Mexican inspired meal with tamales, fresh fruits and vegetables, and burrito fixings.

How cute is this little guy squeezing his eyes so tight while Amy & Drew had their first dance?

The day concluded with the most gorgeous rainbow that stretched itself wide right above the venue. It was an incredible team effort by an amazing vendor team and a wonderful group of Amy & Drew’s family and friends.
